All Season / Winter Van Tyres ?

WCF

Help Support WCF:

Hey lads,

Does anyone run all seasons or winter tyres on their van?

Seriously thinking about All Seasons when I next change my tyres. My mum has Cross Climate 2s on her VW Beetle and it’ll go places in the snow fancy SUVs won’t because of them. But unfortunately they don’t do a van of the same tyre. So before I drop the big bucks (All Seasons are expensive, unfortunately) I wanna make sure I’ve chosen a decent pair. Both in winter and summer. Plus that’ll last. The rear tyres on my van have done 50k and still got plenty of tread on them!

The tyres need to be load rated , I have BF goodrich all terain tyres on my van and they are brilliant, you can get them for most wheel sizes speak to a decent independent tyre specialist , not ATS or the like

round here there hasnt been a decent frost never mind snow .i remember about ten yrs ago a friend of mine asked me where he could buy snow chains from. [there had been about 1/2 inch of snow that year ] he ended up getting a set from the States

We dont get much snow and ice but have lots of mud and leaves on lanes and tracks but the all terrain tyres make a huge difference I haven’t got stuck since having them and several times before we did and was highly embarrassing having to be towed out apart from the time involved ???

BF's can be pricey though I used to have General's on my first L200 that was a good few years ago now they must still be highly rated on this site 4x4 Off Road / All Terrain Tyres (UK) | 4x4AT which is a company I have used when I had L200's A/T's will last a lifetime compared to other tyres I have seen some modified Berlingo vans with them on.

Just to come back to this. I found this article online. 2020 Commercial Van All Season Tyre Test - Tyre Reviews and Tests

Decided on the Michelin Agilis Cross Climate myself.
I did look at those All terrain tyres but not needed for me. I don’t take the van off road, just need to drive in a lot of different weather up here ?

Hopefully that article is useful for others. As you can see all the top brands are with a few % of each other so whatever you choose they look to be well put together. I had summer Agilis on my van before and liked them (rear tyres did 55k miles) so hoping the All Seasons are just as good!

All season tyres are a softer compound with more silicon in them so they won’t last as long but give better grip

I didn't do much off-roading at all but the lifetime you'd get out of A/T's will far outlast other tyres so are worth the extra money over H/T's whatever they are
